Donisha Barnes earned a degree in Elementary Education from Johnson C. Smith University in 2011. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 2017 and First Year Teacher of the Year in 2011. She served on the Behavior Management Team for three years in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. In the Nash Rocky Mount School District, she has served as Leadership Chair, Grade Level Chair, and a member of the School Improvement Team. She served as a 5th grade teacher at Benvenue Elementary School, where she served as the Indistar Process Manager from 2015-2020. Donisha currently serves as an Assistant Principal at M.B. DONISHA BARNES IS A FELLOW IN THE NC STATE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
NC State Leadership Academy (NCSLA) is one of NC State’s newest cohorts! NCSLA was modeled after the award winning NC State program, the Northeast Leadership Academy (NELA). NELA earned the honor of being named an Exemplary Educational Leadership Program by the University Council for Educational Administration. Upon completion of the two-year NCSLA program, Fellows will be prepared to lead North Carolina Schools. NCSLA Fellows began the program Summer 2019 and will graduate in May 2021.
